Description of Work Unit
The School of Education ( SOE ) exists within the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University. The SOE faculty is comprised of educator-scholars whose expertise spans diverse learning contexts and populations. Innovative instruction, technology-enhanced learning, distance education, service learning, professional development school partnerships, and rigorous research are embodied in all of our programs. Our faculty members’ philosophies and areas of expertise, along with the school’s core values, guide our pedagogical and inquiry practices, which are typically both interdisciplinary and applied.
Educator Preparation is built on partnerships with local school districts using a Professional Development School ( PDS ) Model. This model provides opportunities for future teachers to gain valuable classroom experience in partnership schools earlier than traditional teacher licensure models. The Educator Preparation Program at Colorado State University offers teaching endorsement areas for students in the following areas:
+ Birth – age 8: Early Childhood Education
+ Kindergarten – 6th grade: Elementary Education (In Development)
+ Kindergarten – 12th grade: Computer Science, Dance, Music, Visual Arts, World Languages (French, German, Spanish)
+ Secondary: 6th – 12th grade: Agriculture & Natural Resources, Business/Marketing, English Language Arts, Family & Consumer Sciences, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology Education
The Early Childhood undergraduate program is carried out as a collaboration with the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and the School of Education. Position Summary
The Early Childhood Education Assistant Professor within the School of Education and the College of Health and Human Sciences is a 9-month, full time, non-tenure track faculty position. The position includes leadership of undergraduate and masters Early Childhood programs (birth – 8 years old), teaching early childhood education courses, advising undergraduate and masters level students, and building/maintaining school partnerships. This requires intentional collaboration with and among local school district partners to provide and promote the connection of pre-service and in-service teacher development. Opportunities to teach within our Educator Preparation programs with specific attention to our Early Childhood and Elementary Education programs will be paramount to the position. A successful applicant will bring innovative ideas to the preparation of future teachers, have a strong commitment to asset-based pedagogical approaches, be willing to serve in a broad variety of roles as needed, and be dedicated to the mission of the Department, including the growth of programs.

Required Job Qualifications
+ At least three years Birth—6th grade teaching and/or leadership experience
+ Doctoral (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) degree in early childhood education or related field.Degree must be conferred by start date.
+ Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or supervising university-level pre-service teachers
+ Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Experience teaching and/or leadership with Birth-8-year-old learners
+ Experience enacting humanizing and/or culturally sustaining pedagogical frameworks in Early Childhood settings
+ Experience coordinating within an educator preparation program
+ Evidence of successful collaboration with childcare, preschool, and/or elementary school teachers and administrators.
+ Experience in innovative instructional (re)design and/or curriculum development
+ Specific area of expertise (i.e. CLD , literacy, special education, mathematics) that would support the preparation of future teachers
