Utility Driver/Chauffeur- Division of Management - R025315 Primary Location : DC-Washington : Employee Status : Regular Overtime Status : Non-exempt Job Type : Standard Work Shift: : 1st Shift : : Relocation Provided: : No Compensation Grade Low: : WE Pay Grade 42 Compensation Grade High: : WE Pay Grade 43 Minimum Salary: : $48,200.00 Maximum Salary: : $95,400.00 Posting Date : Oct 24, 2025 Position Description Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent experience Minimum Experience 1 Summary The Utility Driver/Chauffeur is responsible for driving both utility and passenger Board vehicles for delivery and pick-up of items, as well as chauffeuring other Board staff conducting official business. Duties and Responsibilities Drives vehicles for either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules over public roads at highway speeds to transport personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools. Incumbent loads and unloads vehicles. Ensures cargo is protected from weather and is properly distributed and secured to prevent damage or loss while in transit. Makes special pickups and deliveries to office buildings, which frequently involves handling material of a time-sensitive and confidential nature. Ensures that items that are picked up match shipping or order documents and may be required to enter inventory into the work order system. Maintains vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition by washing and refueling. Keeps supervisor informed as to other maintenance needs. Performs operator maintenance and washes vehicles in compliances with established policies. Reviews assignments with supervisor to prioritize workload. Closes out work orders as completed. Substitutes in other areas of Facilities Services as need. May provide backup to Motor Transport Unit as well. Must be highly dependable and possess ability to exercise judgment. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Washington metropolitan area. This position is subject to the Board's random drug testing program. This position is designated a "critical/emergency" position and requires compliance with Board policies and procedures regarding hazardous weather and other non-routine operations. May be required to work on weekends, holidays, and beyond normal shift hours, sometimes with limited advance notice. Work affects the safe, efficient and uninterrupted operations of Board's transportation services. WE-43 requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience and minimum of three years’ experience. Periodic checks of driving records will be performed, and incumbent must provide the information necessary to verify that his/her driving record is acceptable. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Washington metropolitan area including principal US government buildings, hotels, and transportation facilities. Must be highly dependable, able to exercise independent judgment, and have good communication and customer service skills. This position is subject to the Board’s random drug testing program. This position is designated a “critical/emergency” position and requires compliance with Board policies and procedures regarding hazardous weather and other non-routine operations. May be required to work on weekends, holidays, and beyond normal shift hours, sometimes with limited advance notice. Physical Demand/Work Environment: May frequently be required to sit, talk and listen for long periods of time. Must be able to read, speak, write and communicate effectively. Must have good eye hand coordination and manual dexterity; be able to operate an automobile as well as associated objects, tools, or controls and be able react quickly to changing driving conditions. On occasion may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and lift or move up to 50lbs. Must have good peripheral vision, be able to see objects close or at a distance, be free of color blindness and have vision correctable to 20/20 with glasses or contact lenses. May be exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.
