Job Description
We are looking for a Lab Instrumentation Technician to assist with installs, maintenance, calibration, and repairs of instruments and control systems critical for the manufacturing site.
This position will require a significant amount of on-the-job training on a 5x8 schedule (Mon – Fri, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM). Following completion of training (approximately 8 weeks), this position will move to 4x10 schedule front half of the week (Sun – Wed or Wed - Sat, 06:00 AM to 4:30 PM).
As an Instrumentation Technician II, you will be a team member who is relied upon to have a good understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment. Your decision making will help you prioritize workflows based on the available resources. You will follow standard procedures to complete tasks, some of which may vary in scope, sequence, complexity, and timing. You will contribute to the team’s success by sharing your previously acquired knowledge.
Responsibilities:
• Performing instrument calibrations for process, utilities, controlled/classified HVAC areas, and analytical equipment and systems.
• Calibrations include temperature, pressure, level, flow, and analytical instruments (e.g., conductivity analyzer, total organic carbon analyzer).
• Troubleshooting and repairing site instrumentation and control system issues.
• Knowledgeable of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic instrumentation fundamentals, including process control loops, loop checks, and loop tuning.
• Performing emergency calibration and repairs.
• Perform maintenance and repair activities on equipment and systems used in Manufacturing, MSAT Laboratory, Quality Control Laboratory, and Process Utilities.
• Assist in planning and scheduling outside contractors/vendors to perform scheduled and/or non-scheduled PM/CAL or general work.
• Perform data entry and verification functions within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS User).
• Manage and maintain spare parts inventory to support the equipment calibration and maintenance program.
• Assist with the equipment enrollment process into the CMMS and gLIMS (equipment labeling, parts, tasks, personnel, procedures, measurement data templates, etc.).
• Participate in process improvement projects through to completion (e.g., 5S).
• Participate in Facilities continuous improvement and Total Quality Management efforts.
• Completing quality and safety documentation and completing the work in a safe, compliant, and timely manner according to planning and predefined schedules with minimal impact to production while aligning with GMPs, SOPs, and Pfizer policies and regulations.
• Ensure work is appropriately communicated to system operators and key partners.
• Ensure work order documentation is completed accurately.
• Reviewing and technically approving calibration plans, procedures, forms, reports, and records.
• Identify waste, work-flow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assist with implementation.
• Identify opportunities to learn new skills an actively participate in development that will improve overall team performance.
• Provide facility, lab and manufacturing support as needed with rotation - this may be outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Skills and Requirements
- 4+ years of experience within Calibration or Instrumentation & Controls
- High School Diploma/GED or higher (Metrology, Instrumentation, Electronics, etc.)
- Basic understanding of process control loops, loop checks, and loop tuning of process control systems
- A high mathematical understanding, excellent reading skills along with intermediate computer and typing skills
- Experience working in a highly regulated function/industry
- Well-developed time management and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic
- Organized and mechanically inclined
- Effective team player and strong communicator
Ability to self-start and direct activities in the absence of supervision - GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) experience
- Extensive knowledge in pneumatics, mechanical, and electronic instrumentation and ability to effectively perform associated maintenance activities
- Experience executing and documenting maintenance work order in a computerized maintenance management system
- Experience troubleshooting computer-based controls systems (PLC, BAS, DCS, and various HMI).
