    Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI)

    Apply Now

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

    In this position...

At Ford Motor Company, we are at the forefront of the automotive revolution. From the iconic F-150 Lightning to the Mustang Mach-E, we are designing the vehicles that will define the future of mobility. The reliability and performance of these modern marvels depend critically on a flawless Electrical Distribution System (EDS), and the connectors within it are paramount.

This isn't just another component design role. We are looking for a passionate and meticulous engineer to take on design and release responsibility for high voltage and low voltage EDS connectors. You will be instrumental in ensuring these critical components meet stringent requirements, drive innovation, and contribute to the overall robustness of our vehicles.

    What you'll do...

As an EDS Connector Design and Release Engineer, you will be empowered to own and influence the entire component lifecycle. You will:

Lead the design and release of high voltage and low voltage connectors to meet all specified requirements.

Collaborate and interface with the EDS team and module teams on design assumptions and integration.

Apply robust design disciplines, including Boundary diagrams, P-diagrams, Robustness Checklists (RCL), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Special Characteristics Communication and Agreement Form (SCCAF), and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).

Ensure all connector designs comply with Ford, USCAR, IEC, and GB/T standards.

Actively participate in component design reviews at key program milestones.

Sign off on component designs, ensuring they meet Quality, Cost, Weight, and Functional Targets.

Resolve Design Verification (DV) failures, developing root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and preventative actions.

Identify and develop Total Value Management (TVM) actions to optimize value.

Work closely with purchasing to align with and execute sourcing strategies.

Utilize best design practices for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance.

Drive commonality of designs across multiple vehicle programs and platforms.

Complete Technical Design Reviews with relevant Technical Leads.

    You'll have...

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Mechanical Engineering (ME) or related field of study

3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Design and Release (D&R) role.

    Proven outstanding D&R engineering discipline.

Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with 8D and 5D methodologies.

    Even better, you may have...

A high degree of personal motivation.

    Outstanding leadership skills.

    Excellent communication skills.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

    • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage

    • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
