How will you make an impact?

Thermo Fisher’s Single Use Technology Division focusing on providing bioprocessing solutions, with emphasis on single-use technologies enabling rapid progress an innovation for the biopharmaceutical industry.

We are seeking a motivated individual to fill the role of R&D Engineer, Mechanical. As a member of the Single-use division's R&D team, you will be involved in developing equipment and systems employed by manufacturers of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines in the industry.

What will you do?

+ Translate customers’ wants into new product designs through an iterative process.

+ Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to define system requirements and specifications.

+ Develop and maintain system architectures, models, and documentation to optimally communicate system design and functionality.

+ Identify safe and robust (regulatory mindful) components and perform associated testing.

+ Detect and address technical issues and challenges throughout the system development lifecycle.

+ Update and maintain current product drawings and components as needed.

How you will get here:

Education

+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 0-2 years’ experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

+ Proficiency in CAD design software; SolidWorks, Pro/e, or equivalent.

+ Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with customers

+ Good technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

+ Self-motivated and willing to take clear ownership of work.

+ Ability to identify and resolve issues with strong problem-solving skills
