Job Summary:
The ESPN Research team utilizes all facets of media research and internal analytics solutions (Nielsen, comScore, Adobe Analytics, etc.) as well as primary research to inform ESPN as well as the larger Walt Disney Company on how sports and specific sports content and products are performing and how the ESPN business can drive even greater consumption in the future.
The ESPN Research team is part of the larger ESPN Finance, Strategy and Research Group, a group of world-class professionals managing and analyzing all aspects of ESPN businesses and providing tactical insights that drive our businesses forward.
The Analyst is a multifaceted role within the ESPN Research team that spans reporting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to the performance of ESPN’s users across streaming and traditional linear TV. They’ll utilize a wide array of data sources from 1st party analytics solutions and proprietary data sources to Nielsen and other 3rd party data to understand viewership of ESPN’s fans. This person should be naturally curious, thoughtful, a problem solver and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once. The individual should have some experience in traditional TV Research, Digital Analytics, Data manipulation and Data visualization. The analyst should feel comfortable communicating findings in written and verbal form to various clients across ESPN and Disney. The individual will have a passion for understanding the sports fan and the digital media industry. This position will report to the Manager, Digital Research and collaborate closely with others in the group, as well as teams across the company including the Data & Analytics teams, Programming, Data & Instrumentation and Audience Engagement.
Responsibilities:
+ Analyze and report on ESPN’s cross-platform viewership performance and trends.
+ Analyze and report on ESPN’s Direct-to-Consumer viewership behaviors and performance.
+ Lead engagement with Data partners on tooling for cross-platform analyses.
+ Lead the reporting and communications of assigned sports performance across platforms through standard reporting and presentation building.
+ Translate findings and deliver clear actionable insights to management to grow engagement with assigned sports.
Basic Requirements:
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience within media, agency, league or research/analytics vendor.
+ Experience reporting on and using Nielsen’s TV viewership suite products (NNTV, NPower, etc.).
+ Web analytics tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics and Conviva.
+ Experience with Data Visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, PowerBI and Microstrategy.
+ Strong written and communication skills.
+ Understanding of the market positioning and strategies of ESPN and the Walt Disney Company.
+ Collaborative nature and ability to work well in a team environment.
+ Ability to produce original ideas when analyzing problems.
+ Proficiency in SQL, LookerML, Python, and R

+ Proficiency in SQL, LookerML, Python, and R.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $66,800 to $91,700 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
