Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time (12 month), Instructor for the School of Social Work on the Hattiesburg Campus. The person selected for this position will serve as the Student Support Specialist for all undergraduate Social Work students in the school. This position is a 12-month full-time position that requires summer teaching and service.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teach a maximum of six hours each semester, possibly including an Academic Success and Learning Skills course.
+ Consult with departmental faculty, as appropriate, on advisement and student matters.
+ Assist in organizing and implementing student recruitment and retention initiatives for the School of Social Work in conjunction with the Dean’s Office and the Office of Student Success in the College of Education and Human Sciences.
+ Oversee the application of university and college-level advisement practices within the School of Social Work.
+ Work individually and in small groups with academically at-risk students to enhance their academic performance.
+ Work collaboratively with the Office of Student Success in the College of Education and Human Sciences to develop and deliver creative and effective student support initiatives.
+ Communicate any student concerns with the appropriate program coordinator, director, or designee.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
