We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to engineer, deploy, and maintain network and virtual server infrastructure for the remote control and monitoring of natural gas pipeline facilities. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and collaborating with multiple teams to ensure seamless operations without disrupting critical pipeline activities.
Responsibilities
+ Deploy and maintain network and virtual server infrastructure to support the remote control and monitoring of natural gas pipeline facilities.
+ Manage system and equipment deployments and upgrades while preventing disruptions to pipeline monitoring.
+ Coordinate resources from different departments for network and virtual server infrastructure projects.
+ Ensure compliance with TSA and PSC regulatory requirements.
+ Use knowledge of device protocols and the Purdue Model for ICS networks to maintain securely segmented network infrastructure.
+ Collaborate with engineering and operations teams for external and internal project requirements.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, equipment failures, and communication outages promptly.
+ Architect and deploy test environments for software updates and patches.
+ Test and deploy patches for operating systems, network equipment, virtual infrastructure, and PLCs using a risk-based methodology.
+ Manage identity access systems for controlling access to network devices and applications.
+ Administer, configure, and deploy network equipment including firewalls, routers, and switches.
+ Collaborate with vendors for equipment procurement and troubleshooting.
+ Specify, procure, and install network and virtual infrastructure components and physical communications media.
+ Develop firewall policies in accordance with CISA and TSA-SD2 guidelines.
+ Maintain system documentation, run books, asset inventories, and network diagrams.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert for communications with stakeholders, including regulatory inspectors.
+ Evaluate equipment lifecycles and develop replacement schedules and cost estimates.
+ Continuously improve security and reliability by evaluating and deploying new technologies.
+ Conduct risk assessments and penetration tests within the ICS environment.
+ Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure vendor agreements comply with cybersecurity requirements.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
+ Strong knowledge of VLANs, network segmentation, and routing.
+ Experience with Cisco applications and operational technology.
+ Expertise in ICS environments and the Purdue Model for ICS networks.
+ Experience troubleshooting networks at all OSI model layers.
+ Experience deploying and configuring firewalls, switches, and routers.
+ Knowledge of network communications media including fiber and CAT5/6.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with installing and configuring virtual machines, hypervisors, and bare metal servers.
+ Knowledge of process control and instrumentation systems.
+ Experience with federal and state regulatory agencies.
+ Experience with PLCs/RTUs and network scanning tools.
+ Ability to write technical documentation.
+ Fluency in written and verbal English.
+ Ability to learn through instructor-led training and self-study.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position requiring presence five days a week with potential travel to sites as needed. The role requires availability for on-call duties on a rotating 24/7 schedule.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
