**Location:** Sterling, Virginia
**Job Type:** Permanent, Full-Time
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically skilled **Press Operator** to oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of press machinery. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality print production with minimal waste and maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, a keen eye for color accuracy, and a commitment to safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities
+ Set up and operate press equipment by reviewing job tickets, proofs, and preparing necessary materials (paper, plates/toner, inks, coatings).
+ Achieve accurate color targets quickly to minimize spoilage and ensure consistent quality.
+ Perform ongoing quality checks and pull samples in accordance with standard operating procedures.
+ Conduct routine maintenance, including cleaning rollers, replacing consumables, and ensuring optimal machine performance.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve common press issues such as jams, misfeeds, streaking, or color drift; escalate complex technical problems to vendor technicians.
+ Communicate material shortages, scheduling conflicts, or production risks to the Production Manager.
+ Ensure accurate documentation and proper hand-off of completed loads to the bindery team.
+ Comply with OSHA lock-out/tag-out procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
+ Maintain a clean and organized press area; handle chemicals and solvents in accordance with SDS guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to read and interpret job tickets and production specifications.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and solid math skills.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and color accuracy.
+ Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
+ Basic proficiency with computers and production software.
Preferred Experience
+ Experience in general labor or production environments.
+ Familiarity with machine operation, inspection, and preventative maintenance procedures.

Work Schedule & Environment
+ **Hours:** Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
+ **Flexibility:** Occasional off-shift hours, overtime, and weekend work as needed
+ **Environment:** Fast-paced production setting with strict adherence to safety and cleanliness standards
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $45760.00/yr.
