Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Technician. This position is located in **Ponce Inlet, Florida** .

Battelle’s Advanced Materials and Energetics Group is seeking to hire a full-time Technician for our Florida Material Research Facility. The Technician role will be an integral part of a team focused on testing materials for corrosion resistance and will be responsible for performing routine maintenance of work areas and equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Operates and performs equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and groundskeeping tasks:

+ Zero-turn mower, line trimmers, chain saws, etc.

+ Small Kubota tractor and other rental equipment.

+ Electric motors and gear reducers.

+ Electric water pumps and strainers.

+ Maintains all FMRF equipment, tool cribs, and inventory in the workshop/shed.

+ Builds exposure specimen racks for testing at both the sites and is responsible for their upkeep and maintenance.

+ Conducts standard as well as non-standard tasks under supervision and guidance from more experienced staff.

+ Follows written/documented quality, process, and safety procedures as applicable.

+ Accurately documents data using computerized equipment and digital cameras.

+ Perform routine specified collection of data.

+ Prepares specimens for shipment to clients or other facilities, completes and logs the activity.

+ Assists with hurricane preparation and mitigation before storms and with recovery efforts afterwards.

Key Qualifications

Candidates should be able to:

+ Exhibit sufficient technical knowledge to perform routine assignments.

+ Demonstrate the ability to follow standard procedures and operate basic equipment such as:

+ Calipers and measuring tools.

+ Digital cameras.

+ Multimeters.

+ Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.

+ Be organized, communicate effectively with a team, and have a desire to learn new skills.

+ Work safely, quickly, and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

+ Comfortably work in or around seawater and the natural Florida environment.

+ Show proof of U.S. Citizenship

_Educational & Experience Qualifications_

Associate degree in a scientific or technical trade field (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding, or similar); or 1 year of applicable hands-on experience in a skilled trade or technical role; or an equivalent combination of vocational education, industry certifications, apprenticeships, and/or practical experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience working in a trade such as framing, electrical, or plumbing, and mechanical assembly/repair.

+ Forklift or heavy machinery experience.

+ Microsoft Office Suite experience, including Excel and Word.
