This is a 100% in-office role based in Schaumburg, IL location. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position. Candidates must be able to work on-site five days per week during designated work hours.
Position Overview
The Director of Benefits Ops provides both strategic and day-to-day leadership to Paylocity’s Benefits teams, aligning departmental vision and structure with broader company and operational goals. This role is accountable for translating Paylocity’s objectives into actionable strategies within the Benefits function, ensuring effective management controls, processes, and team direction.
This leader oversees the successful onboarding and ongoing support of customers to Paylocity’s Benefits Enhanced and Benefits Enterprise products, which are critical components of our HR suite. The Director plays a key role in advancing our competitive position in the market by ensuring our Benefits Administration offerings are robust, user-friendly, and well-supported. Additionally, this function underpins our broker channel sales strategy, making excellence in product delivery and customer experience essential.
The Director collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, including operations leaders and systems development teams, to drive innovation, efficiency, and alignment across the Benefits Implementation function.
Primary Responsibilities

1. Responsible for defining the vision and developing goals for their assigned teams.
2. Responsible for capturing data and working with our systems development teams to build the capabilities needed to support our customers well, allow for positive and efficient support experiences, and drive additional market opportunities.
3. Responsible for managing, developing, planning, and guiding strategic initiatives of the benefits implementation and support teams to achieve accepted goals and meet published SLAs.
4. Responsible for personnel staffing, morale, measurement, and employee development
5. Responsible for evaluating processes involving internal and external partners and working with those partners to improve them.
6. Responsible for effective communication between all internal and external partners.
7. Responsible for development of KPIs and reporting over the KPIs to senior management.
8. Responsible for leading the team to achieve productivity and financial targets while being accountable to the approved fiscal budget.
9. Strategic Initiatives: All operations directors will be expected to lead and/or participate in cross-departmental projects to tackle strategic initiatives.
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Minimum 10 years in an operational management role in a high-volume environment
+ Knowledge of management concepts and practices including supervising and motivating employees, performance management and employee development/training.
+ Proven success of management concepts and practices including supervising and motivating employees, performance management and employee development/training.
+ Experience developing, implementing and managing control/auditing processes via a recognized process improvement methodology, (such as Lean Six Sigma), is required
Project Management:
+ Experience managing employees working on both task oriented and project driven tasks a strong plus
+ Experience managing tasks in a matrix project management environment is a strong plus
+ Experience developing and driving adoption of cross departmental processes preferred
+ Experience collecting data and driving development priorities using a data focused approach is a plus
+ Experience working with payroll and/or HR data a huge plus!
+ Extensive experience with a multi-customer product required.
+ Demonstrated use of a Process Improvement methodology is required.
+ Strong communication skills with external parties required
Physical requirements
+ Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
+ Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.

The pay range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
