    OVERVIEW

    Plan, forecast, purchase, expedite, and report Service spare parts inventory by working within department guidelines, policies, and procedures. Train Materials Specialist I.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Plan, forecast, and purchase Service parts and repair based on certain departmental procedures using various tools and methods.

    + Manage service parts inventories to set budgets

    + Expedite vendor purchase orders to solve stock out situations.

    + Solve stock out situations using various expediting methods.

    + Develop primary and secondary sources.

    + Complete initial negotiations with new vendors, and with existing vendors.

    + Distribute spare parts inventories to various locations using department procedures and guidelines.

    + Provide On-Call support after hours as required.

    + Maintain a library of vendor parts lists.

    + Communicate with Japan and other vendors to obtain needed information.

    + Provide part numbers to Customers as required.

    + Maintain the computerized database of Service parts.

    + Analyze on hand inventories to identify obsolete and potential scrap.

    + Dispose defective parts.

    + Develop end of life programs to ensure spare parts are available after product discontinuation.

    + Participate in the New Product Introduction process.

    + Participate in the analysis to scrap old and obsolete parts.

    + Personal contacts are routine with several sections, departments or divisions or require close collaboration with other members of the same section, department or division.

    + Supervisor managed; activities are governed by departmental and/or company rules and procedures, schedules are monitored.

    + Position duties involve making frequent decisions and frequent recommendations.

    + Errors may result in considerable financial loss and/or embarrassment to the company and may adversely affect some aspect of our business.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience in developing and implementing process improvements.

    + The understanding of planning, forecasting, purchasing and expediting functions.

    + Expertise with computerized inventory systems.

    + 5 years Experience in service parts, logistics or inventory control environment.
