Description
Come lead the User Experience Design team that shapes the future of how Amazon’s internal software engineers plan, develop, release, and operate their products! As a member of the Amazon Software Builder Experience organization, you’ll be a part of a cross-functional team of product managers, program managers, user researchers, data scientists, and development teams to deeply understand the needs of our customers, collaborate with other teams to design delightful solutions, and measure our success through successful delivery and impact on customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Hire and develop a team of UX designers while cultivating a culture of inclusion and empathy
- Collaborate with leaders across multiple disciplines (product, program, research, engineering, etc.) to define a strategic direction for the business
- Continually improve the customer experience with every release
- Create and implement mechanisms for the design team to deliver multiple, high-impact projects in parallel
A day in the life
As the UX Design manager, your day-to-day activities will vary. One day may be spent collaborating with our UX research team on identifying customer opportunities. Another day with product leaders to create a strategic direction for the business. Another might be spent supporting the ideation workshops led by members of your team to solve our customer's biggest pain points. As the leader of the team, you'll decide!

About the team
The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) team is a single organization that owns the experience across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), including planning, developing, releasing, and operating software applications. Our customers are the software engineers at Amazon who are innovating on behalf of their own customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of design experience
- 3+ years experience leading design teams
- Experience managing teams
- Experience working with software development engineers or equivalent technical audience as customers
- An online portfolio or samples demonstrating previous work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with software development engineers as customers
- Experience working cross-team and synthesizing feedback and input from product management, engineering, and testing
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or equivalent experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
