    The Executive Director, Packaging Procurement – Makeup Category, serves as a senior global leader responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for all packaging procurement within the Makeup category across The Estée Lauder Companies’ global portfolio. This position ensures the alignment of packaging sourcing strategies with business priorities, driving value creation, supplier innovation, sustainability, and cost optimization to support brand growth and enterprise objectives.

     

    This role partners closely with Packaging Engineering, Material Planning, Quality, Global Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and Brand leadership teams to deliver competitive, consumer-driven packaging solutions that uphold the company’s standards of luxury, quality, and performance. The Executive Director is accountable for leading category sourcing strategies, managing key supplier relationships, and ensuring the delivery of savings, innovation, and operational excellence across global markets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and lead the global packaging procurement strategy for the Makeup category, driving best-in-class supplier performance, innovation, and cost efficiency.

    • Lead the Makeup Packaging Procurement team and partner with key stakeholders across Brands, R&D, Packaging Engineering, and Supply Chain to influence design-to-value initiatives and accelerate packaging innovation pipelines.

    • Lead commercial negotiations and supplier management activities that secure favorable terms while ensuring high quality, sustainability, and compliance with corporate standards.

    • Oversee the packaging cost governance process, including standard cost setting, purchase price variance (PPV) management, and coordination of annual and quarterly cost reviews for Makeup packaging components.

    • Manage a global portfolio of packaging suppliers, driving performance through strategic relationship building, KPIs, risk mitigation, and supplier development programs.

    • Provide stewardship over major cost improvement pipelines and contribute to the enterprise savings target in alignment with the Procurement strategy.

    • Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and Brand leadership to ensure accurate financial validation of savings and consistency of budgeting standards.

    • Lead global process improvement and capability-building initiatives to enhance operating efficiency and digital enablement within Packaging Procurement.

    • Represent the Makeup Packaging Procurement team in executive reviews, cross-functional forums, and enterprise-wide initiatives.

    • Coach and develop a global team to reinforce excellence in sourcing, supplier management, and procurement governance.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Packaging Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

    • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in global procurement or packaging leadership, preferably within the beauty, personal care, or consumer goods industries.

    • Proven experience implementing category strategies that deliver measurable value through innovation, cost improvement, and supplier collaboration.

    • Strong understanding of packaging materials, component development processes, and manufacturing technologies within the cosmetics industry.

    • Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to lead complex cost modeling, forecasting, and budgeting activities.

    • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and leadership skills to engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

    • Proficiency with SAP, Ariba, and procurement analytics platforms.

    • Knowledge of sustainability practices, circular design, and global regulatory trends is highly desirable.

    • Ability to operate within a fast-paced, matrixed global organization with cross-functional and multicultural collaboration.
