Job Description
The Public Health Strategist supports key internal strategy efforts that strengthen the Jackson County Health Department’s mission and impact. This includes initiatives in **strategic planning, quality improvement, accreditation, and workforce development.** The ideal candidate is collaborative, innovative, and passionate about advancing public health systems and organizational excellence.
What You’ll Do
+ Support planning and implementation of department-wide strategies and initiatives.
+ Conduct assessments, analyze data, and use findings to guide improvement efforts.
+ Coordinate professional development and internal training opportunities.
+ Lead workgroups to improve organizational effectiveness and engagement.
+ Collaborate across teams to align programs with JACOHD’s mission and values.
+ Develop timelines, track progress, and evaluate program effectiveness.
+ Compile data and prepare reports for leadership review.
+ Represent JACOHD with professionalism and respect for diverse communities.
Minimum Requirements
+ **Bachelor’s degree** from a four-year college or university in Public Health, Health Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or related field
+ **Knowledge of** core public health functions and essential services
+ **Understanding of** education program planning, implementation, and evaluation
+ **Knowledge of** data analysis and research methods
+ **Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills**
+ **Excellent written and verbal communication**
+ **Analytical and problem-solving ability**
+ **Experience presenting to large audiences**
+ **Proficiency in** MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases)
+ **Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines independently**
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Promotion/Education, or related field
+ 1–2 years of progressive experience in a related area
+ Experience with surveying, program assessment, accreditation, strategic planning, or quality improvement
