Sr Nuclear Maintenance Tech Support / Job Sponsor This position functions primarily as an online and outage job sponsor for supplemental workforce, technical support for Instrumentation and control, Electrical, Plant Transmission Activity Coordinator (PTAC) Functions, and work activity manager. This position serves as subject matter expert and the initial contact for field problems in the respective maintenance area and is responsible for analyzing data and issues and working with other groups to bring safe, timely resolution to the problems. The work focus is within the protected nuclear area and involves maintenance support of plant equipment. These positions are also outage job sponsors which involve serving as the single point of contact for the supplemental outage workforce for their specialty area. This work includes determining workforce numbers, formulating the budget, determining materials and equipment cost, providing technical direction, Plant Transmission Activity Coordinator (PTAC) Functions, and critique. Other responsibilities include: + Preparing the annual budget for the job task area, performing assessments, root cause analyses and preparing vendor proposals. + Monitors programmatic oversight for the respective area (i.e. site welding) performance. + Creates strategies for improvements including development of assessments to identify strengths and weaknesses of the program. Will be performed internal and external to the site. + Serve as the Site SME for all code and technical evaluations relating to discipline activities at the site. + Serves as the point of contact between engineering, NOS, and external regulators such as the NRC, INPO, and EPRI. + Serve as lead/member for assessment and benchmarking activities internal and external to the site. + Serve as lead/member of the respective working team(s) as required. + Provide technical and work direction support. + Perform trouble shooting for difficult and complex evolutions. + Manage multiple projects/programs within Maintenance. + Develop the process to implement and execute first time evolutions. + Conduct oversight and observation of field work activities. + Conduct Out of Tolerance (OOT) reviews on Measuring and Test Equipment + Reinforce accountabilities for station and supplemental resources. + Provide oversight of all personnel (station and supplemental), especially during critical work activities, in area of responsibility. + Initiate requisitions for Supplemental Workers. OUTAGE JOB SPONSOR + single point of contact for supplemental workforce including station oversight for contingent workforce, communicating work standards and expectations; determining workforce numbers, work durations and training; overall work coordination, field support, monitoring of workforce for safety, quality, productivity, schedule adherence; defining workforce roles and responsibilities; formulate and monitor budget including workforce, materials and equipment cost; provide outage schedule to Work Management Group; technical direction for area of responsibility; conduct pre-outage communication, post outage critique / lessons learned documents. TECHNICAL SUPPORT + initial contact for field problems providing overall tech support (primarily for Instrumentation and control and Electrical) for the analyzing of component data / issues for safe, timely, efficient resolutions; work order reviews; provide engineering support in areas of responsibility for problem identification / resolution / assessments / equipment availability, reliability; initiate / review procedure changes including “Qualified Reviewer” role as applicable; review / purchase parts inventory, maintain / purchase / develop specialty tooling; serve as “complex activity manager” for complex work activities as applicable; benchmark other utilities for work improvements / technologies; provide administrative oversight in absence of supervisor / manager as requested; periodic review for tech spec / manual / database for accuracy / relevancy etc. WORK ACTIVITY MANAGER + prepare yearly budget for job task area (including O&M, capital, labor, tooling, materials, training etc); ensure “long range plans” (5-yr look a-heads) are updated and adequately address future needs; meet periodically w/ budget contact for updating / statusing assigned budgets; prepare and present annual peer budget reviews; review cost reports and submit corrections; monthly monitoring of budget areas for management awareness of issues; provide quarterly / year-end projections. MISCELLANEOUS + pursue technical / professional development striving to continually develop job related skills / knowledge; perform assessments, apparent / root cause analysis as requested by management including studies, technical reports / correspondences (NRC, INPO etc), Duke / vendor proposals, NCR program (problem evaluations, corrective actions, resolutions.) Required/Basic Qualifications + High School/GED degree + 8 years related work experience Additional Preferred Qualifications + Should possess a high degree of manual dexterity of ability. + Should be capable of learning and applying basic skills. + Previous experience providing technical direction for Instrumentation and control, Electrical, Plant Transmission Activity Coordinator (PTAC) Functions + Ability to deliver superior results within allocated time through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work + Previous project management experience + Leadership abilities to effectively provide work direction to others + Motivated self-starter, requires minimal supervision and monitoring of work, and takes personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities + Ability to interact effectively with technicians, various craft personnel, peers, engineers, vendors, and management or as a team member + Experience with using plant drawings + Ability to effectively utilize computer technology as the job demands, i.e. Work Management System, CAP (Corrective Action Program), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint etc. + Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers in all levels of an organization + Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills + Ability to deliver superior results within allocated time through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work + Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, be a self-starter, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities + Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing processes, regulations, responsibilities, and work environments Working Conditions + The individual typically works in an office environment, with prolonged sitting in front of a computer. + Regular online schedule is 4-10’s (but response outside of business hours, including weekends, evenings or shift staffing for emergent issues maybe required) and outage schedule is 6-12’s. + Plant visits are required and may constitute 50% of the time during outages. + Individual may be subject to temperature extremes, noise and radiation exposure. Individual may be expected to climb and/or crawl during observations and be subject to extreme heights.
