We are looking for a new section manager for the section Performance & Emissions Integration, who wants to join the Group R&D change journey. The role offers the flexibility to be based in any of the locations where the Group HR R&D organization operates (Nuremberg, Germany; Södertälje, Sweden; Lisle, USA), depending on the candidate’s preference and location.
Role Summary
As Section Manager for Performance & Emissions Integration, you will lead a cross-site team responsible for meeting legal and project requirements with optimized properties for TRATON’s truck and bus engines. You will drive the development and integration of new and existing technological solutions to meet current and future emissions standards, collaborating closely with all TRATON brands.
As our new Group is part of TRATON Group, we are closely collaborating we are working with all brands in the Group (Scania, MAN, INTERNATIONAL). In your role it’s therefore important to have a Group perspective while taking all brands into consideration.
Who You Are
+ Proven leadership experience in a global, matrixed R&D environment, preferably within automotive or commercial vehicles
+ Strong technical background in engine optimization, emissions control and vehicle integration
+ Experience managing engineering teams and complex projects across multiple brands or locations
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate different cultural perspectives
+ Self-driven, structured, and result-oriented, with a collaborative and open-minded approach
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field, or equivalent experience
+ Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus

This Is Us
The section Performance & Emissions Integration consists of seven units on two sites, spanning the entire development cycle from early integration concept development, via optimization of engine types for Brands in the Traton Group, to product follow up and support to production. We integrate engine and exhaust treatment hardware with software and calibration to meet legal requirements for emissions, power and OBD with optimized properties. You will report to the Domain manager of ICE Control SW & Calibration in the Powertrain Area.
The management team for the section and VCT is a group of highly experienced leaders in performance and emissions integration with a proven track record of delivering innovative world class solutions. The section is responsible that the truck and bus engines developed for Brands in the Traton Group are compliant to emissions, power and engine CO2 regulations. As a section manager you will be closely involved in the challenging development of engine families towards the upcoming and stringent Euro 7, China 7 and EPA27 regulations.

Responsibilities
+ Lead and develop a diverse team of engineers and specialists in performance and emissions integration across several sites
+ Responsibility for capacity and capability of the section to match the needs of ongoing and future development programs
+ Support the development process from concept through production and product follow up
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and cross-brand collaboration
+ Process ownership for performance and emissions integration to ensure compliance to regulations in emissions, power and engine CO2
+ Close collaboration is required with stakeholders in gas exchange, combustion, exhaust after-treatment, control system development and vehicle integration
+ Actively contribute in the Domain management team
+ Represent the section in cross-functional and cross-brand forums, ensuring alignment with TRATON’s strategic goals
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 14 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
+ At least 6 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

+ Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 12 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
+ At least 6 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
OR
+ PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 10 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
+ At least 6 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
Additional Requirements
+ Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
