John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. Led by President Karol V. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Mathematics & Computer Science Department of John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure track faculty at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Computer Science to begin Spring/Fall semester 2026. The department currently employs 17 tenured/tenure-track and 21 lecturer faculty who together support a thriving undergraduate Computer Science major, an Applied Mathematics major as well as a graduate program in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity. This tenure-track position seeks to expand our expertise at the intersection of Cybersecurity and AI with special emphasis on AI for cyber incident response, building secure systems and forensics. The ideal candidate will contribute to both the undergraduate and graduate programs and strengthen our research and education offerings in AI for cybersecurity.
The position of Assistant/Associate Professor is tenure-bearing after the seventh annual reappointment. This position comes with a course load of six courses (18 credits) per year. These courses may be at both graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, the position has an expectation of scholarship through research as well as expectation of departmental service through involvement in committees. New faculty members receive contractual course release time to engage in research and scholarship both pre- (18 hours) and post-tenure 6 hours).
Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to teaching and to develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda. The successful candidate must be eager and qualified to work with our diverse student body. QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching wide array of cybersecurity, incident response, offensive/defensive security and digital forensics topics. Competency in the systems area of computer science such as computer architecture, computer network, network and computer security as well as network and computer forensics is preferred. Applicants who specialize in and have a proven track record of research at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity are especially encouraged to apply.
A PhD in computer science and a strong record of scholarship demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed proceedings and/or journals, or demonstrated potential for such, are required at the time of appointment. Candidates in the final year of their PhD, who will defend their thesis before the appointment date, are also encouraged to apply. An ideal candidate would have some teaching experience and a passion for educating. Candidates at the Associate rank must in addition have a track record of successful grant funding from state, federal or private sources.

COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the range of $79,598 to $94,909 for the Assistant rank and $ 90,838 to $113,982 for the Associate rank.
