Job Description
An entry-level opportunity is available in the Large Power System Division as a Design Engineer at our Lafayette, Indiana facility. The role involves leading the development and application of turbochargers for large engines, including product validation, drawing release, and production implementation. The position supports new product programs, enhances existing products, provides engineering support for manufacturing operations, implements product cost reduction projects, and evaluates and collaborates with suppliers.
Responsibilities
+ Develop world-class turbocharging system designs to meet design requirements for various global applications.
+ Collaborate with other engineering teams to define product requirements for new product programs.
+ Work with suppliers to optimize designs for performance, reliability, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
+ Direct the work of off-site engineering groups providing analysis and detailing services.
+ Complete design FMEA’s and develop validation requirements for new and improved designs.
+ Create product validation plans and lead their execution.
+ Analyze field warranty and failure data to resolve product issues.
+ Develop and maintain detailed project plans.
+ Conduct design reviews to update management and stakeholders on project status.
+ Stay current with technologies and develop new technologies.
+ Communicate technical information to team members, suppliers, internal customers, and other business units.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
+ Mechanical engineering knowledge.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude, with experience in practical environments such as farms or mechanics work.
+ Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
Work Environment
This is an onsite, first-shift position. The role involves significant collaboration with suppliers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
