    Chemistry Lab Technician

     

    Schedule: 1st shift; roughly 5:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. M-F

     

    •Job Description

     

    As a Chemistry Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Metabolism, Dose Prep Team by formulating client test materials. This position involves utilizing wet chemistry techniques and analytical chemistry instrumentation to ensure successful testing outcomes.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform wet chemistry techniques such as weighing materials, using pH probes, handling graduated cylinders, mixing samples, and heating samples.

    + Conduct analytical chemistry tests using instrumentation such as UV-Vis, HPLC, and LC-MS after 6 months to 1 year of experience.

    + Manage administrative tasks, including taking inventory and documenting work.

    + Support study technicians by preparing necessary client test materials for animal dosing.

    + Adapt to varying workloads based on client demand and testing requirements.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related Life Science field.

    + 1+ year of chemistry experience in school or undergraduate research, including work with pipettes and solution preparation.

    + Familiarity with HPLC, LC-MS, or Mass Spec is advantageous.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Flexibility to work varying hours, including nights and weekends, based on project needs.

    + Strong growth mindset with a desire to expand skills within the role and department.

    + Experience in food service, bartending, or client-facing roles is beneficial for handling fast-paced environments and team communication.

    + Trainable and open to learning new techniques and procedures.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a lab setting within the Metabolism team, which comprises around 100 employees primarily focused on laboratory work. As part of a Clinical Research Organization, the lab assists clients in drug development, including testing on animals. The lab follows strict regulations for animal testing, and employees must be comfortable with this aspect. The team emphasizes animal welfare, providing enrichment activities and maintaining a respectful environment.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, Wisconsin.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
