    POSITION TITLE: Systems Administrator II, III or Sr. *Onsite*

     

    SHIFT HOURS: 8:00am to 5:00pm

     

    SALARY RANGE: $87,000 to $97,000

     

    JOB SUMMARY: The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure equipment. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the computer infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to Company policies, enable staff, and maintain security.

     

    This individual will assist the Information Technology Manager and various project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life cycle; technical analysis and design; support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out solutions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Systems Administrator I

     

    + Provide computer systems hardware and software support as needed.

    + Assist IT Manager with network and infrastructure projects as directed.

    + Install and configure systems and infrastructure applications.

    + Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.

    + Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.

    + Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

    + Perform daily backup operations, ensuring data integrity and managing media as necessary.

    + Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.

    + Create, change, and delete user accounts by request.

    + Assist in troubleshooting issues and escalating as needed.

    + Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.

    + Maintain operational documentation and procedures.

    + Provide support for company security systems and hardware.

    + Perform routine data center environmental and monitoring checks.

     

    Systems Administrator II

     

    + All essential functions listed above

    + Install new/rebuilding existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., per standards.

    + Contribute to and maintain system standards.

    + Research and recommend innovative, automated approaches for system administration tasks.

    + Perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions.

    + Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and communicate with impacted teams.

    + Upgrade and configure system software and infrastructure applications.

    + Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

    + Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.

    + Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

    + Assist in planning and implementing changes/upgrades to security systems.

    + Provide assistance and cross-training to other members of the team

     

    Systems Administrator III

     

    + All essential functions listed above

    + Key contributor on network and infrastructure projects

    + Research and influence innovative, automated approaches for system administration

    + Assist with enforcement of system standards and best practices

    + Carry out mitigation tasks related to security risks and intrusion detections

    + Assist with testing the company’s disaster recovery plan and recommend areas for improvement

    + Assist in planning and implementing changes/upgrades to security systems.

    + Provide assistance, cross-training, and mentoring to other members of the team

     

    Senior Systems Administrator

     

    + All essential functions listed above

    + Lead network and infrastructure projects alongside the IT Manager.

    + Research and implement innovative, automated approaches for system administration.

    + Develop and enforce system standards and best practices.

    + Oversee security monitoring, intrusion detection, and mitigation strategies.

    + Manage advanced troubleshooting, investigating critical system issues.

    + Optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.

    + Maintain and enhance data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

    + Perform long-term capacity planning and infrastructure strategy development.

    + Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements.

    + Negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships for systems/server solutions.

    + Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior administrators.

    + Assist in planning and implementing changes/upgrades to security systems.

    + Provide assistance, cross-training, and mentoring to other members of the team

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Systems Administrator I

     

    + Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field

    + Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft certifications) are a plus.

    + 0–3 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or related roles.

    + Basic understanding of Windows/Linux operating systems, networking fundamentals, and system troubleshooting.

    + Other combinations of education, certifications, and work experience may be considered.

    + Exposure to Active Directory, user account management, and basic security principles.

    + Experience with hardware/software installation, system backups, and monitoring tools

     

    Systems Administrator II

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field

    + Industry certifications preferred (CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, or VMware VCP).

    + 3–5 years of hands-on experience in system administration, networking, or IT infrastructure.

    + Other combinations of education, certifications, and work experience may be considered.

    + Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux administration, and virtualization (VMware),

    + Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policies, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, and security configurations.

    + Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for system management.

    + Experience with backup solutions, patch management, and system monitoring tools

     

    Systems Administrator III

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field

    + Industry Certifications (Microsoft Windows Server Administration, CompTIA Security+, VMwareVCP)

    + 5-10 years of experience in systems administration and IT infrastructure

    + Other combinations of education, certifications, and work experience may be considered

    + Demonstrated experience creating and enforcing security policies

    + Extensive history of managing virtual servers, computers, networks, and other appliances

    + History of developing and/or testing server backups and disaster recovery plans

     

    Senior Systems Administrator

     

    + Master’s degree in information technology preferred, Computer Science, or a related field

    + Industry certifications strongly preferred (Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or Red Hat Certified Engineer).

    + 10+ years of experience in system administration and IT infrastructure.

    + Other combinations of education, certifications, and work experience may be considered.

    + Expertise in enterprise-level Windows/Linux server environments and virtualization.

    + Extensive experience with networking protocols, security best practices, disaster recovery, and high-availability systems.

    + Strong proficiency in automation, DevOps practices, and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, SCCM).

    + Experience leading IT projects, system migrations, security audits, and compliance initiatives.

    + Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to IT strategy planning.

    + Strong writing and editing skills.

    + Strong administrative, organizational, and follow-through skills.

    + Strong problem solver with the ability to address complex questions and difficult decision matrices.

    + Ability to work and communicate with a multitude of personnel across all departments and with different technical knowledge and abilities.

    + Able to work in fast paced environment.
