This position operates at the intersection of analytics, institutional research, and information technology, and will be responsible for developing and managing a program to ensure that all data products, analytic services, and reporting solutions are ultimately delivered through modern IT infrastructure, robust data management and service management practices, and enterprise-grade tools that support high-quality service delivery. Serving as a deputy to the AVCD&A for matters related to analysis, analytics programs, and institutional reporting, this position works closely with the AVCD&A, the Director of Data Engineering, the Senior Advisor to the AVCD&A, and the rest of the D&A leadership team to deliver accurate, timely, accessible, and reproducible data products; modernize analytics services through improved data infrastructure and service management; and cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence in analytics and reporting.

The Director provides leadership-including mentorship, operational and strategic oversight, and service improvement-in three key areas: (1) Analytics Programs, including surveys, data visualization, and the Faculty Course Questionnaire (FCQs; i.e. CU's student evaluations of instruction, SETs), (2) Analysis, a team of data science and analytics professionals who deliver complex analysis projects, dashboards, and reports to support campus-wide data-informed decision-making, and (3) Institutional Reporting, including compliance reporting to federal, state, and CU System entities. The Director is also responsible for supervising the shared responsibilities of all three groups as they fulfill data and analytic requests from campus partners and disseminate data and reports through the website and other means.

The Director is responsible for the selection, training, and empowerment of those team leads, and for providing guidance and support for their supervision and leadership of their respective groups. This includes working with the Assistant and Associate Directors to set performance objectives and key results, evaluate team performance against established metrics, and develop and implement strategies for improvement. For direct reports, the Director also performs day-to-day supervisory responsibilities such as leave approvals, workload prioritization, and service management.
