    Preferred qualifications:

    + JD, MBA, or Master’s degree.

    + Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.

    + Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

     

    In this role, you will be a natural at context switching and wearing multiple hats, someone who takes initiative, and someone who naturally rallies colleagues around shared goals. You will seamlessly switch between developing global policies for YouTube content and driving cross-functional projects impacting the global ecosystem, and you have a knack for bringing order and clarity to unstructured or ambiguous problems. The Policy team covers a wide variety of topics, and this role will contribute across multiple areas, including, but not limited to, Suicide/Self Harm. This role will sometimes involve reviewing graphic, controversial, or offensive video content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    + Develop, maintain, and update our global policies focused on policy requirements for suicide and self-harm, and other areas.

    + Influence cross-functional stakeholders and company executives regarding proposed content policy efforts.

    + Lead research and trainings for developing new policies and understanding emerging risks across the globe.

    + Work closely with global teams to ensure effective operationalization of global policies.

    + Build and strengthen partnerships with partners across cross-functional groups including public policy, PR, legal, product, engineering, and sales. Understand and clearly communicate the challenges and needs presented by the latest trends globally.
