Position: Admitting Supervisor

Job Status: Full Time; Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Duties:

+ Provide positive leadership oversight of the admitting department to ensure that staff are providing all patients with a satisfying registration experience at all times.

+ Responsible for full spectrum of human resources and operational functions, including but not limited to recruitment, performance management, and training.

+ Ensure that all staff have the resources to carry out their responsibilities, as well as educated in accordance with HIPPA, EMTALA and all governmental regulations, and that staff are assessed for the adequate competency expectations.

+ Develop work schedules, changes in staffing roles and work assignments based on department needs. Revises schedule to ensure effective coverage at all times, including working within department due to staffing shortage.

+ Monitor that procedures are followed to ensure accurate and complete demographic, insurance and authorization information and/or a Cash Quote is provided for all registered patients either prior to or at Time of Service.

+ Be visible to staff, communicate with leadership team regularly and openly to discuss department needs, successes, and challenges.

+ Skilled at de-escalation. Provide calm, compassionate, and respectful communication in difficult situations with both staff and patients; address complaints and/or concerns with professionalism and good judgement.

Qualifications:

+ Supervisory experience is preferred

+ College degree, preferred

+ 3+ years experience in Hospital admitting and patient registration

+ Knowledge of medical insurance is critical; background in medical terminology is also needed

+ Proficiency with computers is required; Epic EHR experience is a plus

+ Excellent interpersonal skills a must

+ Proven track record of increasing responsibility

+ Flexible day, evening, and weekend shifts are required

+ Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
