    Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for two tenure-track positions, an Endowed Professorship in Finance & Accounting and an Endowed Professorship in Marketing & Organizational Management, at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Department of Business Management and Entrepreneurship to begin August 1, 2026. These positions will contribute to the Colleges’ rapidly growing Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Entrepreneurship program. The program is rooted in the liberal arts and supported by the Bozzuto Center for Entrepreneurship, Centennial Center for Leadership, Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, and the newly created Melly Institute for Business Innovation and Leadership.

    The department seeks collaborative teacher-scholars with expertise in one or more of the following areas and a commitment to prepare students for the evolving global business landscape while bringing contemporary business practices into the classroom:

    Finance and Accounting – This role prioritizes excellence in teaching core foundational courses, including Financial Management (or Managerial Finance) and Management Accounting (or Managerial Accounting). Beyond the core, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop high-impact electives that bridge traditional practice with future-forward concepts, such as: Impact Investing or Nonprofit or Public Finance.

     

    Marketing and Management – The primary teaching responsibilities will focus on essential business fundamentals: Strategic Marketing & Communication and Organizational Management & Development. We are particularly interested in candidates who can through advanced electives, such as: Digital Advertising, Consumer Behavior, Sales Strategy, Sustainability Marketing, Ethical Leadership, and Change Management.

     

    The teaching load is five courses per year which may include courses in the Master of Science in Management program with advising and mentoring responsibilities for undergraduate majors and graduate students. This position requires a deep commitment to scholarship, using research to explore modern challenges in business, management, and organizational dynamics, and translating those insights into a vibrant learning experience for our students and contributing to the department’s reputation as a hub for innovative business education.

     

    The salary range for these positions is $60,000-$105,000, commensurate with rank and experience.

     

    • Ph.D., D.B.A., or terminal degree in a field related to Management, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Leadership, Nonprofit Management, Public Affairs/Management, or Entrepreneurship (ABD considered; must be completed by start date).

    • Evidence of excellence or strong potential in undergraduate and graduate teaching.

    • Active scholarly agenda.

    • Commitment to bolstering belonging and fostering innovation when working with students.

    • Experience building partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, or municipalities is preferred.

    • Practical or professional experience in business, management, or entrepreneurship is preferred.

    • Desired proficiency with relevant tools (e.g., Excel for finance/accounting; Canva or Adobe InDesign for marketing/communications; or project management tools).
