    Job Summary

    The Lead Data Analyst is responsible for coaching, reviewing, and delegating work to lower-level professionals. Leads the analysis efforts within the team and have an expert understanding of critical efforts across the team and support the analysis function within the organization. Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of a broad range of leading-edge analytics systems, taking complicated problems and building frameworks. Leads team initiatives while simultaneously participating in multiple IT project efforts with limited oversight from leadership. Contributions are felt across a breadth of development efforts. Has a working knowledge of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures. Demonstrates a keen understanding of both IT and the business we support. Serves as a subject matter expert for the application, for technologies and integrations, or business processes. Considers the current and future business environment of systems bringing enterprise-level perspective to designs and solutions.

     

    Primary Job Responsibilities

     

    + Take ownership of the entire data platform, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and performance.

    + Take ownership of data as a product for specific data domains, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and usability.

    + Develop and implement the overall data strategy for the organization, aligning it with business goals and objectives.

    + Lead the design and implementation of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.

    + Drive the adoption of data modeling best practices and promote a data-driven culture within the organization.

    + Drive the adoption of self-service data tools and promote a data-driven culture within the organization.

    + Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize data initiatives that drive business value.

    + Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve data processes and systems.

    + Lead the development of data models, reports, and dashboards to support business objectives.

    + Manage and prioritize the backlog for data engineers, ensuring that tasks are clearly defined and aligned with business objectives.

    + Conduct more complex ad-hoc analyses and provide strategic insights to senior stakeholders.

    + Mentor and support junior data analysts in their professional development.

    + Assist in the design and implementation of data governance and data management best practices.

    + Provide training and support to business users on self-service data tools and best practices for data analysis.

    + Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to develop and implement data solutions that meet business needs.

    + Leads knowledge sharing and shared understanding amongst the team

    + Provides functional training, procedural and technical guidance to less experienced staff.

    + Works with team leadership to set and track delivery and development goals for individuals on team.

    + Maintain documentation for data processes, models, and tools to ensure clarity and consistency.

    + May provide On-Call third level support for priority issues, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Troubleshoot production issues and ensure timely resolution or escalation. Serve as escalation point.

    + Represent the data and analytics team in executive meetings and provide strategic guidance on data-related matters.

    + Stay up to date with industry trends and best data analysis and visualization practices.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    + Provides measurable input to new products, processes or standards in operational plans in order to implement operational objectives.

    Leadership & Talent Management:

    + Typically, responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.

    + Typically, responsible for managing major/complex projects at this level, involving delegation of work and review of work products.

    + Additional responsibilities for this role:

    + Recruits, selects, coaches, and develops team members.

    + When direct reports are assigned, conducts performance reviews per HR guidelines. Takes corrective actions, including Performance Improvement Plans and terminations, when necessary. Also manages professional growth and development plans.

    Knowledge & Experience:

    + Requires deep knowledge of area typically obtained through higher education combined with experience.

    + Typically viewed as a subject matter expert within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project or program management.

    + Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

    + Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 6-8 years of prior relevant experience.

    Required Skills

    + Expertise in designing and implementing advanced data solutions.

    + Strong understanding of data engineering best practices and industry standards.

    + Ability to develop and implement the overall data strategy for the organization.

    + Experience with advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.

    + Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.

    + Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and provide strategic guidance on data-related matters.

    + Excellent communication and presentation skills.

    + Ability to lead the adoption of DataOps practices across the organization.
