    Job Description

    About the Role

Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Senior Maritime Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and modernization of IT infrastructure across vessels, ports, and shipboard environments for a leading navigation technology company. This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for a technologist with deep maritime IT experience who can drive end-to-end infrastructure projects—from planning and procurement to implementation and optimization in challenging environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Architect, deploy, and support shipboard and port infrastructure platforms, including ruggedized servers, networking gear, and hybrid cloud solutions.

    • Lead modernization initiatives for vessel IT systems, including automation, disaster recovery, and secure connectivity between ships and shore.

    • Plan and execute shipboard data center builds: power, cooling, physical security, and hardware requirements in maritime environments.

    • Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.

    • Administer Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL) and Windows Server environments onboard vessels and in port facilities.

    • Manage core network services: DNS, DHCP, IPAM; collaborate on routing, switching, and firewall designs for ship-to-shore communications.

    • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and root cause analysis for maritime IT systems.

    • Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and configuration documentation for vessel and port deployments.

    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

    • Travel as needed to support infrastructure deployments on vessels and port facilities.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Technically strong and self-driven—able to own and deliver infrastructure projects end-to-end in maritime environments.

    • Comfortable with racking, cabling, and configuring servers and switches in shipboard conditions.

    • Deep understanding of Cisco UCS/HX, Nutanix HCI, VMware vSphere/vSAN, and ruggedized hardware for vessels.

    • Collaborative and communicative—works well with PMs and cross-functional teams.

    • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills and a focus on modernization and optimization.
