The** **Department of Neurology** **has an outstanding opportunity for a** **Research Scientist/Engineer Assistant** **to join their team.
The purpose of these projects is to develop adeno-associated viral vector (AAV) gene therapies for GNE myopathy, myotubular myopathy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. AAV gene therapy for muscular dystrophies and myopathies, including GNE myopathy, myotubular myopathy, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
**20%** tissue culture including culture of C2C12 myoblasts and differentiation into myotubes
**25%** molecular biology benchwork including protein extraction, tissue processing with a TissueLyser and manually grinding samples; DNA extraction; ELISA; designing primers; cloning including Gibson assembly; western blot
**15%** mouse dissection and canine tissue harvesting
**15%** Maintaining records including electronic lab notebook Benchling; lab inventories in eLabNext;
**15%** data analysis and figure generation with programs including Image Lab, SoftMax Pro, Excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad Prism
**10%** mentoring undergrads and helping them with their day-to-day experiments in the lab
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+ Bachelor’s degree in a related field and less than one year of relevant experience.
_Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience in AAV gene therapy for muscular dystrophies and myopathies
+ ELISA; Benchling; cloning; protein extraction; western blot; eLabNext; tissue culture; mouse tissue harvesting
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$51,312.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$54,996.00 annual
