Client is seeking a dedicated Java developer to build the main application for the new Long Term Storage solution in Chantilly, VA. May also be allocated to other projects if time allows.

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to design and build the core application for a new Long-Term Storage (LTS) solution. This role plays a key part in developing secure, scalable backend services that will serve as the foundation for data storage and retrieval across critical enterprise systems. The ideal candidate brings deep Java expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate technical requirements into high-quality, production-ready code.

You’ll work alongside architects, analysts, and infrastructure teams to ensure the reliability and performance of new and existing systems. While the primary focus is on the LTS solution, you may also contribute to other ongoing initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and APIs for the Long-Term Storage platform.

+ Collaborate with system architects to define technical requirements and integration points with enterprise systems.

+ Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following object-oriented programming and SDLC best practices.

+ Build and optimize RESTful APIs for internal and external application interfaces.

+ Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure software quality and reliability.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

+ Prepare technical documentation and participate in design and architecture discussions.

Required Skills & Experience:

+ 6+ years of professional Java development experience in enterprise environments.

+ Strong proficiency with Java/J2EE, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, and XML.

+ Proven experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating backend services.

+ Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns.

+ Experience with application servers (e.g., Tomcat, WebLogic, or JBoss).

+ Familiarity with SQL and relational database concepts (Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL).

+ Experience working in Agile/Scrum or iterative development teams.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

+ Experience with Spring Boot or modern Java frameworks.

+ Exposure to microservices architecture and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

+ Knowledge of data storage or archival systems.

+ Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Maven, Docker).

Location:

Chantilly, VA – Onsite or hybrid depending on project requirements.
