Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of low-pressure steam boilers and auxiliary equipment in a Power Plant setting. Ensures systems are running efficiently and safely, with full compliance to regulatory standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Operate and maintain:
+ Boilers, motors, compressors, pumps, valves, blowers.
+ Ensure maximum energy efficiency.
+ Perform and record tests:
+ Fuel consumption, pressure, temperature, steam flow.
+ Add required chemical treatments for steam, water, and fuel.
+ Maintain compliance with regulations and safety standards.
+ Maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
+ Conduct continuous inspections and report issues.
+ Be on-call for Power Plant emergencies.
+ Maintain detailed logs and records, and complete all paperwork.
+ Analyze and troubleshoot problems.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned including maintenance task through out multiple buildings and snow removal.
Qualifications
+ Education/Experience:
+ Experience with operating and maintaining Low-pressure steam boilers and related equipment.
+ Must have New Jersey Black Seal License.
+ Valid NJ Driver’s License required
Physical Demands
+ Over 2/3 of the time:
+ Standing, walking, reaching, handling tools, crouching, climbing ladders.
+ Lifting Requirements:
+ Up to 25 lbs: Frequently
+ Up to 50 lbs: Occasionally
+ Over 100 lbs: Rarely
+ Other Demands:
+ Use of ladders, handling 55-gallon drums, hearing alarms, using communication devices.
+ This is a 24/7 365 day facility and you will be required to work all and any shifts based on seniority.
Work Environment
+ Regular exposure (over 2/3 of time):
+ Wet/humid conditions, extreme heat, moving parts, loud noise, electrical risks, toxic chemicals, vibrations.
+ Occasional exposure (< 2/3 of time):
+ Outdoor weather, extreme cold, high places, bloodborne pathogens (PPE provided).
+ PPE Includes:
+ Gloves, aprons, full-face masks, goggles, hearing protection, coveralls, hard hats.
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the starting rate for each level is equivalent to the probationary rate listed below based on the collective bargaining unit guidelines. After completion of a six-month probationary period, the employee's pay can increase to the mid-range or “Job Rate” for that position. Depending on experience, the candidate may be hired at the "Job Rate (Mid)" or "Two Year Rate (Max)" to start.
Min: $28.88
Mid: $29.48
Max: $30.37
*Employees must have 4+ years of applicable experience to be hired above the probationary rate per the collective bargaining agreement.
