UW Tacoma** **Advancement** **has an exciting opening for a** **Digital Content Specialist** **. This is a full-time** **,** **permanent position.
The Digital Content Specialist produces innovative and engaging video, photo and multimedia content that supports UW Tacoma’s student recruitment, community engagement and fundraising goals. Serving as the campus’s lead photographer and videographer, this role tells authentic stories that capture the vibrancy and spirit of UW Tacoma while strengthening the University’s brand and visibility. This position requires both creativity and technical skills to independently lead digital media projects from concept to completion. The Digital Content Specialist manages multiple deadlines, adapts quickly to shifting priorities and ensures all content complies with UW brand standards and accessibility requirements. Success in this role depends on sound judgment, strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and leadership. The Digital Content Specialist may also supervise and mentor student interns in photography and video production.
What You Will Do** **:
_Multimedia Content Creation_
+ Create, edit and produce original video and multimedia content, including written materials, for use across UW Tacoma’s digital platforms (website, social media, events, digital advertising andemerging platforms).
+ Serve as the campus photographer, producing professional and inclusive images of people, events and the campus.
+ Provide creative direction and recommendations to enhance brand storytelling, student recruitment and fundraising outcomes.
+ Collaborate with Marketing & Communications colleagues to plan and execute integrated campaigns, including script writing/editing and digital storytelling strategy.
+ Track social media analytics, engagement, trends and audience retention.
+ Define opportunities to grow followers and increase audience engagement.
_Collaboration & Outreach_
+ Partner with teams across campus to create content that strengthens UW Tacoma’s presence on social media, including new and emerging platforms.
+ Work closely with faculty, staff and students to capture and highlight authentic UW Tacoma experiences.
+ Contribute and post photo and video content to UW’s Tacoma’s social media accounts in collaboration with the Content Specialist.
+ Supervise contractors and student interns (when available), providing hands-on training and mentorship to interns in photography and short-form video production.
_Digital Asset & Equipment Management_
+ Manage and organize all visual media, ensuring proper metadata, accessibility and long-term archiving across platforms (e.g., Flickr, YouTube, media archives).
+ Maintain multimedia studio space and production equipment, ensuring a safe, sustainable use of resources. Maintain inventories of equipment and supplies.
Minimum** **Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in communications, digital media, photography, film production, design or a related field AND 2 years of experience in video and photography or related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
What You Bring** **:
+ Advanced proficiency in video and photo editing software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar) and related tools in a Mac/PC environment.
+ Proficiency using digital camera equipment, professional lighting and audio equipment.
+ Proven ability to create engaging short-form and mid-length (4–5 minute) storytelling videos.
+ Strong project management skills with the ability to work onmultiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
+ Strong attention to detail with a desire for excellence and a growth mindset.
+ Adriven and curious disposition with apassion for storytelling.
+ Experience creating content within a strongly branded environment.
+ Familiarity with analytics tools to track and optimize content performance.
+ An online portfolio of video and photography work.

+ Hybrid-work schedule with four days in the office and one day eligible for telework per week.
+ Cubicle/open workspace environment that may result in higher noise levels and visual distractions.
+ Workload and times may vary, including occasional evenings or weekends.

Pay Range Minimum:
$69,600.00 annual
