    Summary:

    The intern will gain hands-on experience at a modern iron foundry that began operations in November 2018. This role offers opportunities to engage in real-world problem-solving and contribute to operational excellence. Potential projects include evaluating furnace equipment for condition monitoring opportunities, using Python and analytics tools to analyze operational and equipment health data for detecting anomalies, implementing control redundancy, and prediction/modeling, and designing, and fabricating small mechanical componentssuch as fixtures, tools, and maintenance aidsto support the maintenance and engineering teams.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    + Demonstrate self-motivation, curiosity, and willingness to learn

    + Interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

    + Use python and excel for data manipulation, modeling, and analytics

    + Use or show a willingness to learn 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks

    + Conduct literature reviews and technical research to support engineering initiatives

    + Collaborate with electricians and mechanics to execute projects and gather feedback from the production floor

    + Communicate effectively both in-person and in writing, across multiple teams and levels of the organization

    + Promote the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company. This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.

    Education and/or Experience:

    Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelors degree in a related field from a four-year college or university.
