Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
Join our team as a Mechanical Assembler and play a vital role in assembling high-speed turbo motors, generators, and turbo machinery equipment. You will be responsible for both sub-assembly and full system level testing, ensuring compliance with applicable drawings, schematics, and specifications within the Aerospace Defense Industry. This position operates during the 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, from 6 am to 2:30 pm.
Responsibilities
+ Perform mechanical assembly and testing of motor/generator components and subassemblies.
+ Utilize metrology tools such as height gauges, calipers, and micrometers to calculate stack-up tolerancing of subassemblies.
+ Use tooling for advanced machine assembly, including hoists, cranes, and fixtures.
+ Conduct electrical checks including resistance, inductance, and hi-pot using appropriate meters.
+ Execute functional tests of motors, capturing and recording pertinent information in build worksheets using Excel.
+ Collaborate with engineering or manufacturing teams to address design and build issues.
+ Provide feedback on design and processing to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years’ experience as a technician in a production environment or equivalent education/experience.
+ Knowledge of mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, and schematic interpretation.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Word.
+ Capability to use digital multi-meters, inductance meters, and hi-pot meters.
+ Ability to conduct in-process checks and basic verification/troubleshooting of assemblies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Understanding of basic theory behind motor/generator, power electronics, and magnetic bearing component assembly and operation.
+ Soldering Certification is a plus.

Work Environment
Work in a medium-sized manufacturing environment with 120 employees, specifically within a department of 20 people focused on mechanical assembly. The role involves sitting and standing depending on the assembly line and requires the use of steel-toed safety shoes. The environment may include glue smells.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
