Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process materials according to work order specifications. The role requires maintaining processing equipment in a safe and clean condition, as well as ensuring the processing area remains orderly. Complete all required information entry accurately and perform any additional tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

+ Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.

+ Pull, inspect, and verify products before processing.

+ Set up equipment properly and safely to run materials according to setup note specifications.

+ Process setup notes according to work order specifications.

+ Verify that products meet setup note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements.

+ Communicate with sales representatives regarding changes or clarifications to orders.

+ Perform equipment preventive maintenance.

+ Enter and delete material identification tags per written instructions.

+ Assist in packaging materials per written work instructions and work orders.

+ Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.

+ Operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements accurately.

+ Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming materials.

+ Provide feedback regarding machine efficiency and product quality.

+ Complete responsibilities safely and train others when required.

+ Engage in activities related to lean and quality improvement.

Essential Skills

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ Ability to read and write.

+ Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

+ Basic math skills.

+ Certified material handler.

+ 2+ years of saw operation experience, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

+ Inventory control skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry.

+ Experience with forklifts.

+ Use of handheld measuring tools.

+ Computer literacy.

+ Experience working with saws such as Waterjet, Bandsaw, Drill Press, CNC, etc.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily within a warehouse and production setting. You'll handle equipment and materials in a manufacturing or distribution environment, requiring a hands-on approach and attention to detail.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.20 - $22.20/hr.
