    Description

    We are looking for a Operations Safety Coordinator to join our team on a contract basis in Youngstown, Ohio. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence within a dynamic steel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational safety, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and facilitate initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and operational efficiency across the organization.

    • Collaborate with department managers to identify, prioritize, and implement projects that optimize key performance metrics.

    • Develop and oversee a skill-based training program for hourly employees, focusing on Lean and Six Sigma principles.

    • Coordinate the creation and delivery of Lean training materials, ensuring structured and effective learning sessions for improvement teams.

    • Support cross-functional and cross-site efforts to streamline shared business processes, both operational and transactional.

    • Assist in identifying critical performance indicators and implement strategies to improve processes such as purchasing, workflow complexity, and value analysis.

    • Hold team members accountable for maintaining and building upon improvement results, ensuring proper metrics and knowledge are in place.

    • Work closely with process experts, department heads, and steering committees to generate innovative ideas and achieve project goals.

    • Deploy and oversee metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, and team performance to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

    • Conduct Six Sigma projects, providing expert guidance and coaching to team members seeking certification.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing environment.

    Engineering is a plus

    • Proficiency in OSHA safety standards and regulations.

    • Demonstrated experience conducting safety audits and implementing safety protocols.

    • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.

    • Expertise in Six Sigma practices and tools, with the ability to lead improvement projects.

    • Familiarity with occupational safety procedures and practices.

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide teams and coordinate training programs.

    • Ability to analyze complex processes and develop actionable solutions that enhance efficiency and safety.
