Organization and Position Overview
Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry (LMF), a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.
The Sr. Manager, Facilities Services provides oversight and leadership for the Lilly Medicine Foundry’s Site Facilities Outsourced Services Team. Position aspects include FUME Outsourced Services: Outsourcing Strategy, Contract Management, Vendor/Contractor Performance, Budget Planning, Cost Tracking and Continuous Improvement of LMF Facilities Site Services and direct Supervision of Site Contractor Coordinators.
During the project phase, the Sr. Manager, Facilities Services will directly align with the Global Facilities Delivery (GFD) group in a cross-functional project team in charge of the construction, commissioning, qualification, start-up and operational readiness of all Facilities-related systems.
During the day-to-day operation the Sr. Manager, Facilities Services will be responsible for driving vendor compliance with LMF Service Level Agreements (SLAs), oversight of outsourced services delivery (Safety, Quality, Value), on-site contractor coordination, and contractor resource management in Lilly contingent worker system - Beeline.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the LMF Facilities Services Team within the Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance and Engineering (FUME) organization by building strong relationships with Vendor Outsourced Service Providers and managing associated contractual agreements.
Outsourced Services include, but not limited to:
+ Pest Control
+ Waste Management
+ Grounds – Landscape/snow removal
+ Janitorial
+ Cafeteria
+ Facilities Equipment Maintenance
+ Accountable for all Facilities Outsourced Services under his/her assigned responsibility. Ensuring full delivery, effectiveness, and value of Services rendered.
+ Ensure contractor/vendor compliance with Site HSE requirements to include - Safety Permitting, badging, escorting, training, LOTO, PPE, Confined Space, Elevated Work.
+ Ensure compliance related activities such as deviations, change controls and CAPA’s are resolved and implemented in conjunction with Utilities, Operations, Engineering, EHS, and Quality Assurance.
+ Ensure outsourced services and processes are aligned with external regulations and Industry / Lilly Standards and Best Practices.
+ Lead and participate as required in teams, committees, or other groups and/or individually to achieve the departmental, site and/or company goals.
Specifically, during the startup phase of the Lilly Medicine Foundry site (2025 to 2027) leadership will be expected to be collaborative, inclusive, and support the broader team to:
+ Build the Facilities organization with the necessary capability, capacity and culture to support all critical and non-critical Facilities Services at the LMF to the highest standards of operational excellence.
+ Develop and implement the systems and processes needed to operate and maintain the critical infrastructure by leveraging existing Lilly knowledge and practices where necessary but also incorporating external experiences and learning.
+ Ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence by supporting lean principles.
+ Support the project team as they deliver the facility to the site team, by providing feedback and hands on support.
Daily Support:
+ Be a passionate role model for team members in terms of performance and behaviors. Help people improve their performance, develop capabilities, and close performance gaps with appropriate training, professional development and coaching interventions.
+ Provide oversight of the Facilities Team and Contracted Services Partners and trend KPI’s to ensure critical services are provided efficiently, effectively and in compliance with internal and external requirements.
+ Oversee the applicable management systems/processes in order to facilitate effective delivery of Site Outsourced Services.
+ Establish Site/internal customer Service Requirements and align Contractor/Vendor capabilities to meet needs.
+ Collaborate and provide clear communication with internal customers regarding delivery of Facilities Outsourced Services.
+ Provide technical assistance as necessary to internal FUME departmental staff and cross functional partners such as Operations, QA and Engineering.
+ Support and prepare the department to be internal and external inspection ready and drive any corrective action items with applicable partners such as Quality and HSE.
+ Provide oversight for QMS (Quality Management Systems) such as Trackwise and ensure CAPA’s are implemented on time.
Basic Requirements:
+ Associates or BS degree with of 5 years of work experience in an Engineering/Maintenance/Utilities capacity
+ OR
+ HS Diploma with 10+ years of Industrial/Manufacturing Facilities Management experience, preferably in a regulated environment
+ Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to lead a technical team, communicate cross-functionally at all levels, make independent decisions, and influence a diverse and matrix organization.
+ Ability to operate within a regulated industry and make risk-based compliance-related decisions.
+ Ability to instill teamwork within the department and demonstrate key interpersonal skills.
Additional Preferences:
+ Previous Facilities Management experience: supervisory experience of technical personnel and contracted Facilities Outsourced Service Providers.
+ Negotiation/oversight of Vendor Service Contracts and Service Level Agreements
+ Understanding of Facilities/Utilities Systems, equipment maintenance.
+ Project management experience
+ Experience with maintenance and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
+ Previous experience with deviation and change management systems
+ Demonstrated office software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS collaboration sites)
+ Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
+ Knowledge of cGMP
+ Strong technical aptitude and ability to train and mentor others

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$99,000 - $145,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
