    DESCRIPTION

    Lane County Waste Management seeks Extra Help employees with a passion to serve the community of Lane County.

     

    This on-call position is located at the Glenwood Transfer Station.

     

    Wage starts at $16.00 per hour.

     

    About the Position

    Duties include:

    + Estimating load volumes, assessing fees, handling cash, issuing receipts, calculating and reporting daily transactions, making bank deposits and pick up and delivering supplies.

    + Prefer prior work related cash handling and POS computer experience.

    + Must have a desire to connect positively with co-workers and customers, be team oriented.

    + Position requires strong customer service skills, basic math skills, and the ability to use a computer.

     

    Based on operational needs, more than one position may be filled from this posting.

    About the Division

    This Division of Waste Management oversees the management of solid recycling and solid waste in Lane County. Our mission is to provide, safe, responsible and economical recycling and disposal services, while respecting the environment and communities we serve.

     

    Schedule: Work hours vary greatly. Typically 7:30 a.m. - 6:15 p.m. Successful applicants must be available to work on an as-needed basis and on Saturdays.

     

    Extra Help Employees are typically notified by 7:00 a.m. if they will be needed for the day.

     

    *This is a non-represented position*

    *Extra Help employees may work up to a maximum of 520 hours per fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Special Requirements:

    + Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.

    + Applicants must possess a valid Oregon Driver's License .

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

    + Training in making cash transactions, counting change and operating computer and cash registers is desirable, as is experienced with high volume cash handling and reporting.

    This position includes collecting fees for solid waste disposal. The cash handling process is vital. Please describe in detail your experience, responsibilities and years of service in each of the following: a) Cashiering, banking, balancing daily receipts with sales; b) Creating bank deposits; c) Verifying deposits and reconciling paperwork; d) Working independently within a team environment. (50 points)
