JOB SUMMARY: The Packaging Engineer designs and deploys product packaging to ensure product integrity under varying shipping conditions. The Packaging Engineer is responsible for testing, analyzing, and selecting materials for packaging based on durability, function, ease of use and cost effectiveness. The Packaging Engineer helps ensure that packaging complies with all regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):
• Design and develop packaging for products by analyzing and testing materials.
• Conduct industry research to explore and identify current trends and best practices related to packaging.
• Design packaging schemes that are compatible with current manufacturing and material handling processes.
• Improve packaging design and processes to mitigate quality issues and cost
• Work closely with manufacturing to understand customer needs, manufacturing needs and to support implementation of packaging.
• Design and implement systems that aid in the efficient packaging of materials.
• Provide input to project cost estimates, timelines and milestones
• Participate in problem solving and corrective/preventive actions related to product packaging.
• Build packaging schematics and diagrams
• Attend training as needed or assigned
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, packaging science and at least 1 year related work
experience. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be
considered.
• Demonstrable skills with computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant programs
• Communicate in a clear, organized and professional manner both written and oral form
• Ability to perform under pressure
• Ability to develop an understanding of Indium Corporation products and services

WAGE DISCLOSURE:
The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.
The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, retirement plan, volunteer opportunities, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and many more.
$65,000 - $90,000 annually
