Position Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented **Junior** **Mechanical Engineer** to support the development and fabrication of mechanical components and systems for defense-related applications. This position is based in **Ludlow, MA** , and involves hands-on engineering design, manufacturing support, and product improvement activities.

The ideal candidate will have a **strong ability to interpret technical drawings** and possess a deep understanding of **Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)** principles to ensure precision and manufacturability in all mechanical designs.

This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

In this role, you will:

+ Support the design and development of mechanical systems and hardware.

+ Analyze and interpret **engineering drawings** , specifications, and design documents to ensure clarity and compliance.

+ Apply GD&T standards in the creation and review of technical drawings.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing personnel, and quality assurance.

+ Assist in selecting materials and manufacturing methods for prototype and production builds.

+ Provide engineering support during prototype and low-rate production phases.

+ Participate in design reviews, test events, and system integration efforts.

+ Create and maintain documentation including design packages, bills of materials, and test reports.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

+ **Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance**

+ **U.S Citizenship required**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

+ Or a High School Diploma/GED with minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design and development (defense or related industry preferred) in lieu of degree

+ Minimum 1 year of experience in mechanical design and development (defense or related industry preferred)

+ Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings required

+ In-depth understanding of GD&T and its application in design and manufacturing required

+ Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)

+ Familiarity with material properties, machining processes, and design for manufacturability

+ Excellent communication and documentation skills

+ Ability to travel up to 10%
