    Job Description

In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.

Join the forefront of innovation in Systems Engineering, where you'll have the opportunity to craft and refine processes and models that will drive the next generation of mission-critical systems for National Defense and scientific research. You'll work alongside your teams to shape the future of complex system design, integration, and deployment, working on projects that push the boundaries of what's thought possible. By joining our team, you'll become part of a collaborative community that's passionate about harnessing cutting-edge technologies to tackle the most pressing challenges in national defense and scientific research, and you'll have a direct impact on the development of solutions that will shape the future.

MBSE shifts the focus of systems engineering tasks from the creation and use of documents to the creation, expansion, maintenance, and use of a system model to manage parts of the technical baseline. This shift from a document-centric to a data-centric configuration management paradigm reduces the net effort associated with systems engineering, reduces the number of design errors, and identifies errors prior to testing, where it is more cost effective to implement changes.

The Systems Engineering department is looking for college undergraduates and graduate students who can accomplish diverse technical assignments and have the communication skills to interact with technical experts, government customers, and other commercial space companies. Our past interns have supported development of advanced star trackers, written NASA proposals for new missions, assessed the health and performance of on-orbit satellites, helped design next-generation spacecraft and their payloads, participated in the testing of flight hardware, and analyzed data to verify systems meet requirements.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.
