South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of IT Systems Manager at our Lancaster office.

The IT Systems Manager is responsible for planning, deployment, operation, maintenance and supervision of the IT systems core infrastructure including hardware and software as well as IT systems personnel. This individual will be instrumental in research, design and recommendations for all upgrades, changes and additions to the core IT infrastructure. Responsibilities also include implementing industry standard best practices, consistent monitoring of all core IT systems and adherence to organizational values, security, policies and procedures. The individual must be able to troubleshoot complex, multi-layered technical issues while working independently or in a team/collaborative environment. Additional requirements include accurate and comprehensive documentation skills, excellent problem-solving skills, providing phone/remote, onsite, and afterhours (on-call) troubleshooting, training and technical support to end users and the ability to lead and direct the work of others.

We are looking for candidates with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with various levels of management, end users and vendors in a friendly, encouraging and thoughtful manner. Candidates should possess strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop staff. The successful applicant will be highly self-motivated and capable of exercising good judgment in decision making involving calculated risk.

This position will report out of our Lancaster office. Occasional travel to our 2 district offices is required. The IT Systems Manager will report directly to the Director of Information Technology. Direct reports include a Systems Administrator and a Service Desk Administrator.

Qualifications

+ A bachelor’s degree in computer science is required. Enterprise hypervisor certification is required. Equivalent experience including professional certifications will be considered.

+ A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in IT systems administration including working knowledge of advanced tools and diagnostic utilities.

+ Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and technologies. Expert proficiency in Windows Server, Exchange Online and Active Directory/Azure including GPO objects.

Preferences

+ MCSE/MCSA or equivalent certification, Linux experience.

+ 2-3 years of supervisory experience.

This position requires full-time onsite presence for the initial six-month probationary period to support onboarding, training, and team integration. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the role becomes eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week and onsite three days per week.
