Job Description

The Student Worker Barista is responsible for preparing and serving beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Job Responsibilities

**1. Beverage Preparation:** Baristas prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. They must follow specific recipes and techniques to ensure quality and consistency.

2. **Customer Service:** A significant part of a barista's role involves interacting with customers, taking their orders, and providing recommendations based on their preferences. Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor are essential for creating a positive customer experience.

3. **Cash Handling:** Baristas are often responsible for operating cash registers, processing payments, and managing transactions accurately.

4. **Workspace Maintenance:** Keeping the work area clean and organized is crucial. Baristas must regularly clean equipment, sanitize surfaces, and ensure that the café or coffee shop meets hygiene standards.

5. **Stock Management:** Baristas monitor inventory levels, restock supplies as needed, and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and available for use.

6. **Food Handling:** In some establishments, baristas may also prepare and serve light snacks, pastries, or meals, requiring knowledge of food safety practices.

7. **Team Collaboration:** Baristas often work as part of a team, collaborating with other staff members to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation

Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays

Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation

Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication

Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients

Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift
