    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Advanced Energy’s RF Delivery Systems (RFDS) division is seeking a skilled Senior Design Engineer to join its New Product Development (NPD) team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key contributor in the design and integration of innovative RF Generator Systems that power plasma applications across a range of industries. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in system integration, RF engineering, or power supply design, and a passion for driving innovation in high-performance technologies.

     

    The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for driving design efforts with a multi-disciplined product delivery team of RF, Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineers and coordinate with other cross functional teams to launch new design. Designs can be full product delivery or sub system design as part of a larger team.

     

    The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for driving the product development projects while delivering on time to commitments. Prior experience in industrial RF power system integration, and/or high-power power supply design is preferred.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Serve as a core contributor to the product development engineering team.

    + Lead RF and power supply design efforts in collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance generator systems.

    + Translate system-level requirements into detailed design specifications and prototypes.

    + Conduct design analysis, simulation, prototyping, and validation using tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and RF simulation platforms.

    + Perform hands-on system integration and debugging using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, function generators, JTAG, etc.).

    + Collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure design robustness, reliability, and compliance with performance, safety, and cost targets.

    + Foster peer-to-peer relationships across Advanced Energy to support cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    + A combination of office, engineering lab, and cleanroom environments.

    + Domestic and international travel may be required (travel is typically <10%).

    QUALIFICATIONS** **:

    + Demonstrated expertise in a relevant subject matter and a proven track record of driving product designs.

    + Ability to help drive the system integration and debug in the lab. This typically involves testing and debug using common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, function generators, JTAG or similar tools, etc.

    + The ability to perform analysis, prototyping, simulation, and validation of circuit designs or perform system analysis using common CAE tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, or RF simulations tools

    + Creative problem-solving mindset with a focus on quality, safety, cost, and delivery schedules.

    + Basic programming or scripting skills. Familiarity with Python, C, or VHDL a plus

    + Strong team player skills and attitude.

    EXPERIENCE:

    + At least 6 years’ experience in related industries, preferably working with power electronics, but other relevant industry experience will be considered.

    + 4 years' experience with a master's degree.

    EDUCATION:

    + A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or similar) technical degree or highter.

    COMPENSATION:

    _As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 to $140,000 per year._
