Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Transportation group has an immediate need for a full time, highly motivated Senior Project Manager with 15+ years of experience of successfully executing roads and highway transportation projects. Your broad skills sets will be called upon to execute a variety of tasks which may include client outreach, proposal and work plan preparation, multi-disciplinary engineering design management including the project scope, schedule and budgets, identification and assignment of team resources, provide leadership in the technical preparation of highway, roadway and street designs, quality management, business planning and account management. This senior role will be engaged in setting the strategic business plan for growth of the roads and highway business in the California region.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships that allow us to have a positive impact on the communities we serve and grow our people through work on exciting and challenging projects
- Develop value-added solutions to clients' needs and lead the successful pursuit of contracts for engineering and consulting services
- Increase the company's profile within the transportation industry through participation with appropriate business and professional organizations
- Lead a team of highly skilled engineers, engineers in training, technologists, designers, and interns to successfully execute projects of varying sizes and complexity.
- Provide mentorship, ensure the technical development of junior designers and EIT’s.
- Recommend and participate in the hiring process and decision making of new team members, with the support of Human Resources.
- Participates in business development and project pursuits, leading, or contributing to preparation of work proposals to clients.
- Collaboration with other engineering disciplines and supporting technical/drafting staff, coordinating the efficient production of deliverables workplan within budgets.
- Provide internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, engagement, and retention.
- Perform strategic planning and plan execution for both operations and business development
- Planning, organizing, and supervising the work of other transportation professionals
- Effectively negotiate, plan, monitor and deliver quality projects and consulting services
- Reviewing engineered designs and plans for conformance with applicable state, regional & local agency standards
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience in designing and managing roadway projects including design analysis and development.
- A developed client network with local Transportation agencies
- Experience with market positioning, client management, and pursuit execution
- Comprehensive understanding of all phases of project document production.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills; Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and aptitude for leadership, managing people and delivery of infrastructure projects.
- Thorough understanding of project scoping, identification of deliverables, tasks, scheduling, resources and levels of effort, and project budgeting.
- Experience with technical guidelines, codes and construction standards of key public authorities such as State Department of Transportation(s).
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Proficient in relevant design software, Civil3D, Microstation and OpenRoads/Geopak.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering and project management experience
Position will work in person and remotely to serve the BC region with a preference to have at the minimum 3 days per week in office work with some field work as required. Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 141,500.00 - Max Salary $ 212,200.00
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas - Min Salary $ 151,700.00 - Max Salary $ 227,600.00
• Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) - Min Salary $ 162,000.00 - Max Salary $ 243,100.00
