Adjunct Faculty Open Rank – Science – Multiple Positions
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Biology and/or Chemistry for the following semester sessions:
2026 Spring Term - Session I: March 4 to June 16, 2026
We are looking for candidates with availability to teach in-person courses during the day which include lectures and lab components. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use effective pedagogical and technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students.
Adjunct faculty will be responsible for teaching and providing guidance related to the following courses:
CHEM 110 Introduction to Chemistry
BIOL 122 Introduction to Bio: Life & Environmental Science

QUALIFICATIONS
For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Adjunct Associate Professor, or Adjunct Professor:
Ph.D. degree in an area of science, science education, environmental science or related degree. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer:
Bachelor's degree in an area of science, science education, environmental science or related degree, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
**Adjunct Lecturer** : Master’s degree in an area of science, science education, environmental science, or related degree, and the ability to teach successfully.
For all ranks:
Possess teaching and/or work expertise in science, science education, environmental science, or a related field. Experience teaching in a community college. Demonstrated ability in most of the following:
Teaching students of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic and educational backgrounds
Active, student-centered pedagogy and significant student mentoring experience
Use effective technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students, including, but not limited to, the use of Brightspace and Navigate360
COMPENSATION
**Adjunct Lecturer:** $100.41 per hour
**Adjunct Assistant Professor:** $109.54 per hour
**Adjunct Associate Professor:** $118.66 per hour
**Adjunct Professor:** $123.23 per hour
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
