    Provides consultation, education and professional support for Hospital‑wide and departmental quality improvement programs, projects and initiatives. Educates and advises on methods, tools and techniques for monitoring and assessing quality of care and compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Provides support for implementation and evaluation of hospital and unit/department based quality improvement programs and serves as project manager for designated programs/projects. Designs and administers customer surveys and analyzes, interprets and presents results.

    Key responsibilities

    + Supports, facilitates, coordinates Orthopedics & Sports Medicine quality improvement team meetings, activities, projects, audits, reports, regulatory/compliance efforts, etc., and serves as a QI liaison and resource person on medium to large scale projects in accordance with Program for Patient Safety and Quality (PPSQ) and the Strategic Plan for Quality and Safety. Collaborates with other hospital QI personnel and with other departments involved in hospital-wide QI activities to achieve desired results on improvement projects.

    + Facilitates, coordinates, and provides project management for quality improvement teams, strategic planning sessions, as well as other organizational meetings as requested and needed. Act as a bridge and translator between the aims of clinicians and the requirements of the application specialists so that work products are well defined and efficiently delivered.

    + Prepares regular status reports on the progress of work teams to various internal constituents to keep them apprised of progress, potential barriers, lessons learned, and related topics; to include the timely submission of monthly reports for all strategic improvement priorities

    + Presents and interacts with department and hospital leaders regarding the results of improvement efforts and the ongoing performance of clinical processes. Participates in the development of abstracts and manuscripts as a co-author.

    + Advises on tools, methods and criteria for monitoring care delivery processes and outcomes and evaluating effectiveness of changes.

    + Maintains knowledge of current professional and industry trends and practices through participation in relevant professional/industry organizations and attendance at conferences and other continuing education programs.

    Minimum qualifications

    Education:

    + Master’s Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, or closely related field

    Experience:

    + Two years of data management experience in a clinical setting is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience in data management may substitute.

    + Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based knowledge.

    + Communication skills in order to persuade and negotiate with others on important matters.

    + Strong data management, statistical analysis/statistical software (SPSS, STATS, SAS, etc.) experience

    + Strong organizational skills to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are achieved

    + Proficient in quality improvement tools (process mapping, root cause analysis, control charts, etc.)

    + Ability to meaningfully engage with individuals at all levels of the institution
