    The Business Development Manager - Navy is responsible for maintaining & growing sales volume and margin with existing and new business opportunities for the Maritime Defense market segment. Works with business teams and current and potential customers to promote company technologies, products, and services to meet customer needs and to determine how the division’s capabilities can be leveraged into additional markets.

    Essential Functions:

    + Work with manager to develop, refine and execute a Navy business development strategy.

    + Grow opportunities and sales in the Maritime Defense market.

    + Manage Navy marketing activities against a budget.

    + Identify where Parker technology is best suited for Navy opportunities & build the relationships and sales channels so that Divisions can grow into that space.

    + Develops proposals and contracts designed to attract the customer and provide an acceptable level of return to the company by researching customer requirements and translating them into development opportunities.

    + Develops and manages proposals and business development plans for domestic and international Maritime Defense programs. Determines the need for cross-division teaming and external strategic partner/alliances to gain business.

    + Conducts competitive research, evaluates sales performance, and formulates goals and milestones for specific products and systems. Applies thorough understanding of Parker’s technical capabilities, operational capacity, and market information to influence strategic positioning.

    + Serves as the liaison and facilitator with customers, other divisions, and marketing to resolve issues and assure customer satisfaction.

    + Develops and maintains relationships with customers to gain knowledge of future market and customer needs and further develop business opportunities.

    Qualifications:

    + US Navy experience, or commensurate Naval industry experience required.

    + 5+ years of progressive experience in sales or divisional operations

    + Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Engineering, or related field. MBA desired.

    + Technical ability to understand, communicate, and cross-sell Parker's key technologies relevant to Maritime Defense: Hydraulic, Electro-Mechanical, Fluid Control, Seals & Filtration .

    + Comprehensive knowledge of principles, industry practices, company products, technology, regulations, service capabilities, and policies related to marketing and business development

    + Ability to translate customer desires and projected requirements into business development strategies and develop solutions to customer problems.

    + Knowledge of related US and international rules and regulations.

    + Must be able to travel overnight 25% of time; or as required.
