+ New Hires: Entry level rate $15.99/hr.; Current employees in the bargaining unit: Please refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.

+ Assist with and support classroom teachers with reading and math instruction and small group intervention.

+ Assist with daily activities and routines of students.

+ Work collaboratively with teacher(s) using developmentally appropriate practices.

+ Assist teacher in monitoring students' progress by keeping necessary records and giving feedback as requested.

+ Follow teacher directions for instructions.

+ Use positive reinforcement techniques to assist in managing behavior throughout the school routine including transition times and recess.

+ Engage in on-going staff development.

+ Model flexibility in duties as the needs of students change.

+ Model enthusiasm and patience.

+ Supervision before school and at recess.

+ Attend study trips as needed.

+ Other duties as assigned by building administrator.

+ Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.

+ Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.

+ Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.

+ PLEASE NOTE: This position is funded via Title I funds on an annual basis and may not be renewed the following year.

+ Hands on position; able to work with children while sitting on the carpet and/or in small work areas

+ Ability to withstand weather for outside activities

+ Must be able to lift, pull and push 50 lbs.
