Position Summary:
The Clinical Resource Nurse is a professional nurse who serves in a collaborative role with the department nursing staff to provide continuing education and support quality improvement and practice initiatives. The Clinical Resource Nurse works with department leadership staff to assure compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Resource Nurse is accountable for maintaining currency with own nursing practice and demonstrates commitment to own professional development and continuing education. The Clinical Resource Nurse will have continued clinical exposure to departmental workflows. Clinical practice within the department constitutes an average of 30% of the position. The Clinical Resource Nurse works collaboratively with Administrative and Medical Leadership and all health care team members in the Departments. The Clinical Resource Nurse reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with Evening and Holiday rotations
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Provides clinical input to the Operations Manager to complete 3 month review of new MA, development of goals, and annual performance appraisal.
+ Promotes a sense of “teamwork” through inclusion, collaboration, and advocacy.
+ Promotes and facilitates medical assistant clinical and professional development.
+ Assesses needs; supports and coordinates competency based educational and training programs for medical assistants.
+ Coordinates orientation of new nurses to the department.
+ Conducts weekly chart reviews with new nurses for their first 3 months of employment. Reports this information to the Administrative Director.
+ Provides clinical input to the Administrative Director to complete 3 month review of new RNs, development of goals, and annual performance appraisal
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Maintains and assures a patient/customer friendly and confidential environment. Keeps focused on internal and external customers when making decisions.
+ Acts as a resource for medical assistants and nurses on electronic medical record management.
+ Participates in development and maintenance of Departmental SharePoint Site.
+ Coordinates/conducts audits and makes recommendations in compliance with all regulatory bodies as needed and as it relates to clinical practice.
+ Reads, understands and complies with all Standards of Conduct, ANA Code of Ethics, TJC policies, and all position responsibilities at EBNHC.
+ Participates in the delivery of direct patient care that is culturally appropriate, age appropriate, evidence based, and meets the needs of populations served.
+ Meets with individual nurses monthly (after orientation complete).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
+ Demonstrated teaching skills
+ Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
+ Excellence in providing care to diverse populations.
+ Aptitude for learning new information technology platforms
+ Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
+ Resourceful, self-motivated, ability to prioritize
Qualifications:
+ Required: Minimum of 3-5 years licensed nursing practice experience in an ambulatory care practice setting. Minimum of 2 years relevant management experience.
+ BSN preferred or in progress
+ Bilingual preferred
