    We are currently looking for a Sr Analyst DBA for our Houston, TX office.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    In this role, you will provide leadership and technical expertise for the implementation and support of database and application systems that meet requirements of a given functional area (commercial, operations, financial, legal, etc.) via active participation in a cohesive team.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Installing, patching and maintaining database systems which includes but is not limited to ensuring successful backups, resolving system issues, opening cases with technical support to resolve issues, monitoring success and failure of automated jobs, monitor system availability, updating system documentation, system and database recovery, etc.

    + Installing, patching and maintaining technical and middleware application software and systems

    + Patching database systems by reviewing, planning, testing and installing database security patches and service packs

    + Designing, documenting, and promoting security "best practices", policies, standards and protocols

    + Leading other DBA’s by guiding the design of database and application infrastructure by monitoring project progress, reviewing deliverables, etc.

    + Migrating application code and objects from development/test environments to production

    + Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems

    + Installing, patching and maintaining database connectivity client software for all application servers and work with Desktop team to choose and implement client database connectivity tools and update connectivity configuration files

    + Working with development and systems teams to perform application and database tuning

    + Advanced knowledgeable in SQL languages, tuning and troubleshooting SQL statements

    + In conjunction with development teams, define and maintain database and code standards and naming conventions for the organization to ensure consistency in database and code development

    + Setup and maintenance of appropriate database and application monitoring

    + Setup, test and maintain business continuity/disaster recovery infrastructure database and applications

    + Writing and maintaining SQL, PL/SQL and shell scripts

    + Cloning and refreshing pre-production database and application environments

    + Creating processes and procedures for application code and database object migrations to support an efficient and reliable system development lifecycle

    + Building and maintaining maintenance scripts to perform maintenance and processing jobs on database and applications

    + Participate in 24x7 On-Call rotation for all critical systems

    REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

    + 5-7 year’s minimum of in-depth, hands-on knowledge of designing and supporting Database technologies and enterprise applications

    + 5-7 year’s minimum working technical knowledge of SQL languages

    + Extensive experience with operating systems such as Windows and Linux

    + Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and software issue resolution techniques

    + Demonstrated experience with any technologies specific to the given functional area (i.e. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, DocumentDB)

    + Ability to conduct, compile, and present research in the following area(s): database development and delivery concepts, as well as technical application issues

    + Ability to apply common standards to disparate processes

    + Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to address business problems

    PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Certifications applicable to this position

    + Familiarity with the Energy industry

    + Experience with specific phases and general knowledge of the entire software development life cycle

    + Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

    + Broad knowledge of programming languages and techniques

    + Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, as well as industry specific regulations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), etc.

    + Demonstrated ability in interpreting technical and installation documentation

    + Knowledge of trends in technology relating to software applications and database technologies

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    + Bachelors degree in a related discipline
